Community Safety Advisory Update: Motor Vehicle Thefts - Electric Bikes / Scooters

This is an update about the Jan. 28 Community Safety Advisory.

University Police received additional reports of multiple scooter thefts at various campus locations over the last week. A surveillance video captured a suspect’s image which is included above, but the suspect has not yet been identified. If you see the suspect, do not approach and contact University Police immediately at 336-758-5911.

If you have any information regarding the stolen scooters or the suspect, please contact University Police at 336-758-5591, submit a tip through the Wake Safe App or email police@wfu.edu.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to report suspicious activity promptly at 336-758-5911 (emergency) or 336-758-5591 (non-emergency), through the Wake Safe App or by filing a report online. University Police is located in Alumni Hall. With immediate concerns, call the emergency number. Reports can be made for concerns about suspicious activity on or off campus.

Personal safety and security precautions

• Leave your bike or e-scooter parked in well-lit areas.
• Use locks on lockers, scooters and bicycles at all times.
• Register your personal property with the University Police to discourage theft.
• Download the Wake Safe App for Android or for iPhone to easily report stolen scooters or other stolen property.
• Visit the Wake Alert website to sign up for alerts and stay up-to-date on information during an emergency.
• Familiarize yourself with the Emergency (blue light) phone locations around campus.
• Attend crime prevention programs to learn about the resources available to you.

As a reminder, e-scooters and e-bikes pose a fire hazard when stored indoors. For your own safety and the safety of others, do not bring them into residence halls, offices or campus buildings.

This Timely Warning is sent in compliance with the provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Wake Forest University area until 3/16/2026 at 6:00 PM. Seek safety.

Wake Alert Update: Tornado Warning Expired Tornado Watch Still In Effect

The Tornado warning has expired. The tornado watch issued for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County area is still in effect until 2:00 PM. No longer shelter in place. Monitor local weather reports. Updates: wakealert.wfu.edu.

Wake Alert Emergency. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County area. Seek shelter now. Go to the lowest level of a building. Stay away from doors and windows. Our first priority is to ensure the health and safety of those on our campus. The current NWS warning is in effect until 10:45 AM. Updates will appear here.
