At about 2 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022, an individual with no Wake Forest affiliation came to Worrell Hall, and later to Reynolda Hall, in search of legal services. While never threatening or aggressive, his insistence caused enough concern that University Police were asked to speak with him.

The individual cooperated with police and agreed to leave campus. During this interaction, the individual shared with police that he had a concealed carry permit and weapons in his vehicle, which he turned over without incident. It is illegal to bring weapons onto the Wake Forest campus; therefore, police took him into custody. He has been legally prohibited from returning to campus for any reason.

Police are continuing to conduct a thorough assessment; however, at this time University Police have no reason to believe that this individual posed a threat to the safety of our community.
