Classes canceled on Wednesday, Feb. 2

Out of an abundance of caution and in response to the continued disruption and displacement of students, faculty, and staff living in the voluntary evacuation zone, Wake Forest will cancel classes on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

Staff who are not needed to support the evacuation effort and are able to work remotely are encouraged to do so. If you are unsure if you should report to campus, contact your supervisor.

The evacuations have had an impact on campus operations and preparedness to conduct classes. Some faculty and staff and more than 1,000 students reside in the one-mile evacuation radius. Voluntary evacuation remains in effect and is expected to continue until at least 7 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) night. Residents of the area should not return to their homes until notified it is safe to do so.

It remains safe for students to be on Reynolda campus. Local officials have been and continue to monitor readings from air monitoring equipment on and around campus and have found no health concerns for the Reynolda Campus. Those with pre-existing respiratory conditions may choose to avoid being outside for prolonged periods.

The Benson Center, Wellbeing Center and ZSR Library will operate under normal hours tonight and tomorrow. Please remember to wear face masks when in campus buildings.
