The University is cleaning up debris and taking other steps to respond tonight to a strong thunderstorm that passed through Reynolda Campus late in the afternoon. No one was injured on campus during the storm.

After the storm, much of the campus was without electricity. Duke Energy has restored much of the power on campus and is continuing to work to restore power to the remainder of campus.

Facilities crews have worked since the storm to clean up debris and clear areas where trees or limbs fell. Two cars were damaged by trees or limbs.

Camps and conference groups on campus have continued operation with assistance from the University’s Conferences and Residence Life and Housing staffs. Aramark provided food service in Reynolda Hall’s Fresh Food Company (the Pit).

In a few instances, people were temporarily stranded in stopped elevators, but all exited the elevators without injury.
